I'm Richa, a journalist based in New Delhi. I write, make photographs, and curate an independent digital magazine,  Parenthesis. 

On beauty, love and burns: in conversation with an acid attack survivor

Acid corrodes thousands of lives each year. In the brief, excruciating moments of these attacks, lives change forever. I speak with Lakshmi, a survivor, about grace, strength and the process of reclaiming her body.

On making sadness a home: Notes on living with depression 

Sadness can be a lot of things: an identity, an excuse, a lifelong war. It can be the most consistent of friends, the most awful of foes, the oddest life-mate one can possibly have. Here, I try to make sense of what some of the worst years of living with depression can look like.

    Graduated school: aggregates 92.8% and 90.2% (class 10 and 12 boards respectively)
  • 2013
    Graduated from VIT, Vellore, with a (still completely unused) B.Tech. in bio-informatics
  • 2014
    Graduated with a diploma in print journalism from the Asian College of Journalism, Chennai
    + started working with the Hindustan Times, Delhi
  • 2015
    Earned an MA in magazine journalism from Cardiff University, UK
  • 2017
    Ended a three-year stint working as a subeditor/content producer with the Hindustan Times
I write, make photographs, and occasionally design things (like this website! This one too). I’m currently working on independent writing projects and making sure everyone I know reads Parenthesis.
